For over 30 years, the Wrong Island Railroad has been a part of the Long Island model and toy train community. After opening in 1986 as a dollhouse store and train club, the Wrong Island Railroad saw a need for model train hobbyists to find inspiration for their home layouts and a place to get the tools, materials, and new products needed to make their visions a reality.
Founders Frank and Joan Gscheidle of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY, have spent years building, updating, and operating the store and layout before closing the doors to the layout in 2015. While they plan to open the store seasonally in the future, their goal to build the hobby for future generations of train lovers continues online with the Wrong Island Railroad online store.
|Over the past 30 years, the Wrong Island Railroad layout and store has received a number of awards and features, including features in O-Gauge Railroad Magazine, the I Love Toy Trains video series, Good Morning America, Sachem Patch, Newsday, and more.|
